I went to see 1964 last night…during this song, they told everyone in the audience to call someone who wasn’t with them to share “In My Life”…
Loved the 35-song show. Great night.

Oh, Oklahoma voters. How do you pick these people?...
Last week, I did something I very rarely do (for the sake of my sanity and blood pressure) - I read the local newspaper’s Opinion page. I ran across this letter to the editor that prompted me to go on a crazy tumblrant. The tumblr platform was being a weirdsmobile & wouldn’t let me post, probably a good thing. So I ‘saved as draft’ so I could cool off a little about yet...

What Martin Luther King, Jr. Day should NOT be...
Today, on the day to celebrate MLK, I was happy to see quotes and notes of appreciation for the great work that Dr. King did to advance civil rights and social justice in his shortened time on earth. Then, I saw something that took me aback. An unnamed high school acquaintance and pastor posted this on his facebook today and made me sick:
Good morning all, today is MLK Day. I hope we realize...

Dave Sittler update
The poster of the original video added this email received from the Tulsa World higher ups today:
Mr. Allen,
Thank you for your email concerning the private conversation that Dave Sittler had with Oklahoma State University Coach Bill Young on Dec. 28 after a Fiesta Bowl news conference
Mr. Sittler’s choice of words was unfortunate and not representative of the standards we expect at the Tulsa...

Apparently a frat in Vermont circulated a survey amongst its members and that was one of the questions.
So, some stereotypes exist for a reason, you see?
Ho. Ly. Shit. And what does the associate vice president for campus and student life have to say about it? The question was “incredibly offensive and inappropriate”. Srsly. Way, way more than that Annie Stevens....

And now, Syracuse.... →
Just a week ago, I was writing a pissed off tumblr post about the Penn State situation. And now, today another school with another potential child abuse case on its hands. This one is in the early stages of the police investigation (according to the OTL link above), but OHEMGEE!
My initial thought when I heard the tweets was sadness, followed by a bit of hope that at least victims seemed to begin...

Read & decide for yourself: Grand jury report on... →
First - a warning - the report is graphic. And disturbing. But needs to be read as you formulate an opinion on this case.
Second - while I hate to even say this, Sandusky is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. While I have no doubt that this evidence is immense and damning, even he still gets his day in court.
That said, some quick thoughts ….
I posted this quote from Desmond...

Earthquake insensitive :(
So. There was a 4.7 earthquake, with a 3.4 aftershock centered in Prague (which I believe is eastish not too far from okc). Everyone on my social medias is raving about it and I didn’t feel anything. At all. This is kind of bumming me out!

Minds are like parachutes - they only function when open. -Thomas Dewar
– When I saw this quote come across my Twitter, I thought about what a great statement this is. Then I began to ponder the source, Thomas Dewar. Hmm….who was this Dewar, as the only Dewar I know comes in the form of liquid libations. Surprisingly enough, after some googling, this Lord Thomas...

The unsanctity of marriage - Kardashian edition
In light of the recent divorce news coming out of Hollywood from their newest couple, I thought it was an appropriate time for a mini rant. So…
Why the hell is this news?? They are ‘celebrities’ (if I use the term loosely) … who engaged in an apparent publicity mongering reality tv-based tour du jour. This is sickening. Like there isn’t enough real news to go around...
